How do I find a process server?

Type:
Common FAQ
Answer:

You can find a private process server by conducting an online search. The staff of the Clerk’s Office is prohibited from providing you with names of process servers.  However, if the litigant is granted in forma pauperis status, the court will order the United States Marshal to conduct service of process.  See Rule 4(c)(3), Fed. R. Civ. P.  In addition, Rule 4(c)(2), Fed. R. Civ. P. allows any person who is at least 18 years old and not a party to the case to serve a summons and complaint.
