The District of Arizona has received reports from individuals who have received emails from scammers who are pretending to be court officials. The emails advise victims that a bond must be posted in order to avoid arrest. The emails also state that payment in the form of a prepaid debit card must be remitted in order to avoid arrest.
The Court or any law enforcement agency will never email or call an individual to threaten arrest or to request payment. Please click on the attachment below to view an example of a fraudulent court document requesting payment via a pre-paid debit card.
DO NOT send any personal or payment information to the requestor. If you receive a suspicious email that appears to be from the U.S. District Court, please contact the Clerk’s Office at 602-322-7200 (Phoenix) or 520-205-4200 (Tucson) to report such activity.
