Notice Regarding Access, Service, And Management of Sealed Documents

Wednesday, September 24, 2025

On September 24, 2025, the Court issued General Order 25-17, outlining new procedures regarding the service, access, and management of sealed documents. Under these procedures, sealed documents will continue to be filed in CM/ECF under the Court’s existing procedures. Since sealed documents filed in CM/ECF will no longer be accessible or viewable electronically, service of those documents must be made outside of CM/ECF as provided by the Federal Rules of Procedure and General Order 25-17. The Court will serve sealed orders and notices in paper by mail. A person authorized to view sealed documents can request a copy by contacting the Clerk’s Office.

U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services documents, which are all restricted, are subject to these updated procedures. However, all disclosures of Probation & Pretrial Services documents will be facilitated using a secured electronic method.  A person authorized to receive these documents can request a copy by contacting the assigned probation officer.

For detailed information regarding the Court’s sealed documents procedures, please review the materials on the Filing, Service, & Access to Sealed Documents page of the Court’s website. If you have any additional questions, you can contact the Clerk’s Office in Phoenix at (602) 322-7200 or and in Tucson at (520) 205-4200.
